Uruguay is bordered by Argentina to the west, Brazil to the north and northeast, the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast and the Rio de Plata to the south. Most of Uruguay is gently rolling plains. The rest of Uruguay are rivers lagoons lakes and mountains. The main river cuts straight through the middle of Uruguay called Rio Negro. In the very middle this river turns into two lakes called Lago Artificial de Rincon del Bonete and Lago Artificial de Paso del Palmar. This rivers source is made from Brazil and flows from the North East to the West into the Rio Uruguay and which than flows into the Rio de Plata. There are some mountains below the Rio Negro and other mountains in the North of Uruguay. Rivers that flow to the east are very shallow and either flow into the Atlantic Ocean or into coastal lagoons where they stay.
